Ishpeming High School Sport Booster Club - FAQ

Why do we have a Booster Club?

The Booster Club's main role is to boost up the Ishpeming High School sport programs.  The Booster Club has raised and donated funds over the past several years which have exceeded $10,000 annually.  Even though there are costs involved with pay to play, the Booster Club helps greatly reduce that cost to parents.  Without the Booster Club efforts and donations many sport programs and high school athletes would have suffered.  Two other reasons for having a Booster Club are;  1) help build school spirit and 2) provide a tool to keep parents and boosters informed on Ishpeming High School sports.

What do I have to do to become a booster member?

You just need to come to a meeting.

When are the meetings and how long are they?

The meetings are scheduled once a month about 7 months out of the year.  They are scheduled the same day and time each month so it's easy to remember when, the 3rd Monday of the Month at 7:00 pm.  Meetings usually last only about 1 hour.

What happens at a booster meeting?

Ideas on how to best support IHS sports are discussed, IHS sports updates are provided and decisions made on spending Booster funds.

Do I have to make every meeting?

No, it's nice to have many members at each meeting but its understood that family and work situations may dictate attendance.

Besides meetings what other obligations will I have as a Booster?

None, from time to time some committees are put together for special projects or events, but they are few in number and it's strictly voluntary.

Where can I get more information about the Booster club and its meetings?

The Marquette Mining Journal "Community Bulletin Board" section publishes our meeting announcements each month.  You can also check our section on the Ishpeming Public School Website at http://www.ishpemingschools.com/athletics/booster.shtml.

As a parent of an athlete I already volunteer to help during the year and pay for my student to play, why should I be a member of the Boosters?

Thank you for helping, in a way you already are a Booster.  Why not attend a short meeting once a month during the year to express your opinion, have some say in where the fruits of your efforts go.

How much does it cost to be a member?

There is no cost, its free.

Please consider becoming an IHS Booster, we want you, the student athletes need you!  Come join us at either a Booster event or meeting.
